A selection from a cross between Chilopsis linearis (seed parent) and Catalpa speciosa (pollen parent), bred by N.F. Rusanov at the Uzbek Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This cultivar was previously attributed to the nothospecies ×Chilopsis tashkentensis by Elias and Wisura, but can no longer be included under that name as its parentage has been shown to differ. This was one of the two original ×Chilopsis cultivars introduced to cultivation, the larger and more vigorous of the two, with a slightly pendulous habit and pale pink or white flowers (Elias & Wisura 1991) and prominent purple striations in the corolla. Introduced to the United States in 1977, and to Europe c. 1983. See also ‘Pink Dawn’.
