We have published this stub genus article as part of a wider reorganisation of Sorbus sensu lato articles. This work will enable a new revision of Sorbus sensu stricto to commence in 2023 and bring the nomenclature of this complex group of plants up to date in line with modern treatments.

A genus of 1 (Plants of the World Online 2023) to 3 (Rushforth 2018) species distributed in western China. Differentiated from related genera by the combination of: leaves large, c. 12–23 × 5–12 cm, with craspedodromus venation, ± glabrous; flowers in a terminal corymbose panicles, opening before the leaves, 20 stamens; fruits large, 20–30 × 15–20 mm, calyx lobes persistent, densely lenticellate, 3–4 carpels each with 2 superposed ovules (Rushforth 2018; Bean 1981).
Wilsonaria is closely related to Pleiosorbus L.H.Zhou & C.Y.Wu but may be distinguished by fruit ripening in a single season (cf. 12 months in Pleiosorbus); 20 stamens (cf. (25–)32–50 in Pleiosorbus); venation craspedodromus (cf. camptodromus in Pleiosorbus) (Rushforth 2018).
