Shrub, to 1 m; young shoots lacking setae. Leaves 5–11 × 3–4 cm, usually narrowly elliptic, apex acute, margin not ciliate, upper surface with impressed midrib, lower surface with scales their own diameter apart. Flowers 2–4, in a loose terminal inflorescence, slightly scented; calyx unequally lobed; corolla pink, funnel-shaped, 40–50 mm, outer surface scaly throughout, pubescent at base; stamens 10; ovary densely scaly, tapering into the scaly style.
