This species was reintroduced by Roy Lancaster in 1981 (L.905, 996) from south-west of Kangding (Tatsien-lu), in the area where Wilson collected it early this century. The flowers, borne in 1986, are very fragrant, though with a different scent from those of the related P. delavayi.
