ORIENTA® is the first complex hybrid Paulownia to be aimed at the American horticultural market, rather than for forestry use (Worldpaulownia.com 2022). In the eastern states, P. tomentosa is increasingly notorious as an invasive weed, and its sale is illegal in Connecticut; sterile hybrids with similar floral characteristics are likely to replace the species for ornamental use.
