Editorial Note

Lessertia, which has been enlarged to include the bird-pollinated genus Sutherlandia (Goldblatt & Manning 2000), was covered neither by Bean’s Trees and Shrubs Hardy in the British Isles nor by New Trees. Species belonging to it are cultivated within our study area and a full account will be provided when funds are available. We supply the brief text below, pending a full, revised treatement of the genus to be provided when funding allows. If you would like to sponsor the work please write to editor@treesandshrubsonline.org

Southern African shrubs with compound leaves and small, oblong leaflets. The fruit is a large, papery capsule, often inflated; seeds have a pitted and papillate seed-coat.
