The systematics of Phyllanthaceae – only recently segregated from Euphorbiaceae s.l. – have undergone significant revision over the last three decades. In particular, tribe Poranthereae (in subfamily Phyllanthoideae) has been comprehensively reconceived on the basis of work by Vorontsova and collaborators (Vorontsova et al. 2007, Vorontsova & Hoffmann 2008). As a result, both of the species treated by Bean under Andrachne have been referred to different genera, one to Phyllanthopsis, the other to Leptopus.
