As remarked above under H. helix, the common ivy in its eastern forms seems to have leaves less lobed than in the west. The present species, a native of the Caucasus and the Caspian forests of the USSR and Iran, also has obscurely lobed leaves, but these differ from H. helix in their more elongate shape and are also sometimes slightly toothed, as in some forms of H. nepalensis.
