This slightly crowded 14 m tree of Dodecadenia grandiflora at Trengwainton, Cornwall (centre, middle distance), was collected at 2700 m asl in Nepal in 1983; 7th May 2014. Image Owen Johnson.

A genus of three species of Himalayan trees with coriaceous, pinnately veined leaves. Flowers bisexual, in axillary clusters, each flower surrounded by persistent imbricated bracts. Fertile stamens twelve. Fruit a berry, inserted on the thick, flattened calyx-tube.
