Editorial Note

A completely new and much enlarged account of Hydrangea is being prepared for publication in 2024. It will include all species previously placed in Decumaria, Dichroa, Pileostegia, Platycrater and Schizophragma.

A genus of two species, one American the other Chinese, both climbers that cling to their supports by aerial roots. The name is derived from decimus and refers to the number of the various parts of the flower. Of the sepals, petals and cells of the ovary there are up to ten and of stamens twenty to thirty.
