Near to D. oleoides but taller, with reddish bark, smaller leaves, deep-pink flowers and shorter sepals.
Either an extreme form of D. oleoides or possibly a hybrid between it and D. cneorum (Fl. Europ., Vol. 2, p. 257). It was described from S.W. Bulgaria and has also been found nearby on Greek territory, in the mountains north of Serrai.
