A genus of about six species of deciduous shrubs, sub-shrubs and herbaceous plants confined in a wild state to E. Asia. The leaves are opposite, mostly more or less toothed, and deciduous. Easily grown in light loamy soil in full sunshine. Several are only semi-woody in this country and the summer growths are often well cut back in winter. Half-ripened cuttings strike root readily.
