We have published this stub genus article as part of a wider reorganisation of Sorbus sensu lato articles. This work will enable a new revision of Sorbus sensu stricto to commence in 2023 and bring the nomenclature of this complex group of plants up to date in line with modern treatments.

Differentiated from related genera by the combination of: craspedodromus venation, fruit typically longer than broad with two carpels each with two co-lateral ovules set in a well-developed core. Styles joined at base. Calyx epigynous, usually deciduous. Seeds obovoid, rounded in transverse section, c. 6–7 × 3–4 mm. (Rushforth 2018).
