An unsurprising, and likely under-recorded hybrid, a single specimen of Acer miyabei × campestre is currently growing at Arboretum Wespelaar, Belgium. This was raised from seed collected by Philippe de Spoelberch in 1983 at Bergius Botanic Garden, Stockholm. It soon became apparent that it was of hybrid origin and campestre more than likely the other (pollen) parent. It has only remained in the collection as long as it has for lack of a wild-sourced replacement of true A. miyabei (K. Camelbeke, pers. comm. 2020)!
