A genus of three species, one in Chile, the other two in Queensland and New Guinea, allied to the tropical genus Macadamia, of which M. ternifolia is cultivated on a commercial scale for its edible seeds.

Molina, the author of the generic name, adopted the spelling ‘Gevuina’, which is a perfectly adequate rendering, in Latin, of the native name for G. avellana. The spelling ‘Guevina’ should not be used; it is of no account that the native name is spelt ‘guevin’ in Spanish.
